Located just a stone’s throw away from 40^th and Fruitvale in the industrial area on River Road, you’ll find Hop Capital Brewing, Yakima’s oldest brewery established in 2007. Hop Capital Brewing’s original beer line up was inspired by Burt Grant, who is widely credited with opening the first brewpub after prohibition right here in Yakima in 1982. Hop Capital Brewing has carefully crafted some of the valley’s OG beers in tribute to Grant while also brewing a wide range of new and innovative beers.

Hop Capital Brewing boasts 24 taps so no matter what your taste, Hop Capital Brewing has a beer for you! They have IPAs, hazys, sours, belgians, barrel-aged beers, pale ale, blondes, stouts and more. There’s a steady supply of their canned beer to go or get a growler or crawler from any tap to take home. They also have two rotating guest cider taps and a selection of wine from local vineyards. They utilize a tap system called “Bottoms Up” that fills beer from the bottom, you have to see it to believe it but just don’t poke the hole! (Fun Fact: it was invented by one of Yakima’s very own.) Hop Capital Brewing has a small kitchen where they can whip you up some pub food like wings, tots, mac and cheese bites, mini corndogs, and more. They allow outside food to be brought in or catered for private events.

Along with the beer, they also have almost every activity under the sun. Their wide-open space allows for patrons to play ping-pong, shuffleboard, foosball and corn hole just to name a few. They feature an array of weekly events from Corn Hole League to Trivia nights and live music several times a month and DJs for the rockin’ events. If a lot of this sounds familiar to you but the name isn’t ringing a bell, that could be because you missed the rebrand and launch party from Yakima Craft Brewing Co. to Hop Capital Brewing in June 2019. The brewery changed ownership in 2017, expanded their taproom in 2018, and rebranded in 2019. With a continued focus on great beer brewed from the source, Hop Capital Brewing may sound new but they’re still the same laid-back, fun-loving brewery they always have been.
