Could we really call ourselves a hop-centric agricultural town if we didn’t have at least one brewery located in a historic building dedicated to hops? Yeah, we didn’t think so. Which is one of the reasons we are so proud to have Hop Nation brewing and repping some of Yakima’s most distinct beers.
You’ll find Hop Nation in Downtown Yakima, just west of the train tracks on historic Front Street in their renovated 100-year-old hop warehouse. The beautiful red brick building and rustic interior create an inviting atmosphere to chill with your friends as you taste your way through their menu.
You’ll find the full spectrum of beer styles at Hop Nation, so there’s bound to be something to satisfy every palette. They’re known around town for mixing it up and brewing beers that aren’t piled high with hoppy notes. You’ll find a range of German-style beers—from Bock in The Goat Rocks (a seasonal German Maibock) to Daily Wiess (a tap staple)— and many, many more. Hop Nation focuses on the relationship between Columbia Valley grains and Yakima Valley hops to achieve their award-winning flavors.
The reason they dedicate so much time and so many resources into striking this perfect balance lies with their head brewer and owner, Ben Grossman. Ben has won more Great American Beer fest awards than any other local brewer. He’s also one of only a handful of members on the Coors Sensory Panel an achievement that requires taking a sensory aptitude test only 1 in 500 people will successfully pass.
While you’re at Hop Nation, try out some of their delicious BBQ fare. They are one of the few breweries in Yakima with a full kitchen to cook up some great food while you taste your way through the valley.
