Here in Yakima, we’re as close to the land as you can get, and the owners of Cowiche Creek Brewing Company are no exception. You can find their tasting room and brewery through the winding roads, sprawling orchards, and acres of wide-open range just west of Downtown Yakima—it really is a sight to see. Their beers are brewed with barley and hops they’ve grown themselves, along with other varieties from around the Valley. Make sure to stop by and enjoy a crisp, clean beer while looking out over the Highland Valley this year.
When you visit Cowiche Creek Brewing, you know from the moment you arrive that they haven’t just built a brewery and tasting room, they’ve built an extension of their home, and they’re more than happy to have you. When you stop by, it doesn’t matter if it’s your first time or you 100th time--you’re family at Cowiche Creek Brewing.
This brewery feels like a home because it literally started in Maria and Derrick Nordberg’s home with dozens upon dozens of brewing experiments that eventually took over their own house. That’s when they decided to convert their 40+ acres of land from a place to raise cattle into a beautiful area to raise hops and barley, brew good beer, and host you and your friends. Cowiche Creek’s tasting room is located on what used to be their bullpen!
Something fun is always going on at the tasting room, especially during the summer. From live music to lawn games, there’s a little something for everyone—including a super sweet black lab named Tiny Dog for you and the family to play with! Tire your kiddos out, tire Tiny Dog out, and relax with a cold beer in your hand--it’s a win-win for everyone. And if you or the kids get hungry, there’s almost always a food vendor on location for you to buy some yummy eats (and Tiny Dog won’t complain if you drop a little something).
Any trip out west from Downtown Yakima wouldn’t be complete without stopping at Cowiche Creek Brewing Company. Mark your calendars now and make sure to add this one to your list of must-tries!
